Cooper Update!

His eyes are closed but he's not sleeping! (below)

We had or appointment yesterday with the specialist to evaluate the cyst in Cooper's brain. They did a VERY detailed ultrasound of each internal organ, his spine, brain, etc. The cyst went from 8 mm to 4 mm. The specialist found no other problems and said his heart and spine looked great. See told us several times that we had nothing to worry about. She said that a cyst alone is not usually a problem and that there are several babies that have these cysts with no problems at all. She said there is a good possibility that there are numerous adult walkinig around with these and will never know about it. She said with our history and me being under 35 that we are low risk. She said that means that even with the cyst that our chances of having a baby with a genetic abnormality is less than 1%. The genetic disorder most commonly associated with these cysts is trisomy 18 which is typically very serious and not compatible with life...but again she said we really have nothing to worry about and that we are at just as low risk as any other healthy pregnancy. She said that there is other abnormalities found in addition to the cyst is trisomy 18 is possible. SO PRAISE GOD! It looks like Cooper is going to be A OK. Cooper was very active during the ultrasound. They had to spend quite a bit more time than usual trying to get all the views they needed. He would flip and flop or give the ultrasound wand a little kick. It was so much fun to watch. The ultrasound tech said we better get plenty of rest now because this little guy is going to keep us on our toes :). He will be his father's son :). The ultrasound tech got some really good pictures including a few profiles and more detailed pictures of his face which you saw above. Danny and I are very relieved and feel truly blessed by all the prays that have been lifted up on Cooper's behalf. We are SOOO excited and are happy to have gotten a few more pictures and GREAT news! Praise God!!!!

Okay, call me blind, but I can't see the lens to his eye... Maybe there is something wrong with my lens. ha ha (I had to.) Oh, Cooper is just so precious already! I love the picture where his hand is on his head - I wonder what he was thinking... "Who keeps poking me?!" "How long is this sonogram going to last?" "Hmmm. I grew some hair." Anyway, glad to read the good news and that Cooper is having a good time! That certainly helps to put Mommy and Daddy at ease! And yes, you'd better enjoy rest now. During my sonograms with Grant, the technician always commented on how crazily active he was, and that we were going to have quite the toot on our hands. Man, oh man, was she right!!!! Rhett, on the other hand, was less active in his sonograms and continues to be the calmer of the two. It is so cool that they form their personalities before they ever enter into the world. What a miracle! I am guessing Cooper will be extra long, have beautiful tan skin and curly hair. (Now watch him be short, have newborn white skin and straight red hair. ha ha)
