Well, I haven't posted since Christmas and I apologize to the 1 or 2 readers :). Danny and I are doing well! We have an eventful Christmas and started off busy and stayed that way. Our trip to New York started of eventful and never let down from there. First, we were leaving on
the 21st of December at 2 in
the afternoon. At 5 o'clock that morning we got a call saying our connection flight from New
Wark, NJ to Rochester, NY was cancelled and we wouldn't be able to get to NY until Christmas eve. So after being on hold for over two hours and
speaking with 2 or three different people we decided to go ahead and fly to NJ. Danny's parents drove the 5 hour
trek through an ice storm to pick us up but we made it nonetheless. Meanwhile, Danny and I were going through an experience that we dreaded. We were going to be surprising our families after my parents flew up with our big news! We were pregnant ! God had other plans. We had a
miscarriage the night before my parents arrive and 2
days before Christmas. Note that I am writing this several months later so we have since come to terms with everything. At 7 weeks we lost our baby. It was a very emotional Christmas. I was in tears at just about every moment and had a hard time visiting extended family without breaking down. Danny was very strong and comforted me throughout. So you are probably
thinking that nothing good could possible come from a miscarriage two days before Christmas, but after several sleepless night and talking with my heavenly father many things were revealed. Number 1, I I got a small glimpse of the pain that God went through when he gave up His only Son for ME! I won't get to meet our baby until going home to heaven, but I felt like I had lost someone that I was so close to. I couldn't imagine giving up a child or loved one like God gave his Son for me. Number 2 comes from a
Mandisa song that I listened to multiple times throughout the trip. It talks about God revealing himself in different ways from a sunset to the loss of a love one. I truly saw God during this time. As hard as it was to go through God provided me with more mercy, love, and comfort than I could have imagined. He soothed my heart and gave me hope for the future. He answered a prayer of mine even though I didn't realize it. I had been praying to feel God more present in my life, and through that experience He was real! It had been a while since I could honestly say that My God was here, present at every moment. Since then I have become closer to God and am leaning on Him in my every day activities. He is not only real but present and carrying me through the sand. It has ultimately brought Danny and I closer together and has brought me closer to several of my friends who gave me additional support. We did spent lots of great time with family and friends and were so thankful that we got to see them all. So the crazy story continues. We were flying out Saturday morning after Christmas at 6:30 am. We looked online and found out that our plan was being delayed 2 hours, so being the smart and efficient family we decided we would
get to the airport 2 hours before our new scheduled departure and sleep in a little bit. So around 6:15 we get to the airport and are told we cannot board because we had to be there 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. We were then told that there was nothing out of Dayton (which is where we
drove to for Christmas) until Tuesday. Danny had
bball practice that afternoon and a game on Monday. My parents were able to board because they check0in online the night before. There was not a flight within 4 hours of Dayton, Ohio until Tuesday. So.....We got a flight out of Rochester, NY for Sunday afternoon for Danny and I and a flight out of
Cincinnati for my brother John. So, we got to spend another day in Ohio, which actually was a blessing
because we got to see more family that we wouldn't have otherwise. The bad news was that Danny, his mom, and myself drove all night to get to Rochester. But in the end we FINALLY made it back to Houston.
So it was an eventful Christmas nonetheless. But we are doing well now and look forward to what God has in store for our future. My rotations are going well, but I am sad about being out of town for the next 3 out of 4 months. I will let Danny fill you in on the exciting and not so exciting moment of basketball season. He is going to start posting to! So to our faithful one or 2 readers..Have a great night!!
